Horizon Call of the Mountain Shows Giant Robot Parkour in New Trailer

The gameplay trailer also showed that Horizon Call of the Mountain is Coming to PSVR2 Exclusively

Horizon Call of the Mountain, an upcoming PlayStation VR2 game spin-off of the Horizon series, just got a fresh new trailer at today’s State of Play.

The surprisingly action-packed teaser shows the main character in a canoe, and a water-based robotic dinosaur called a “Snapmaw” flips the boat over as the journey starts. For a VR game, it all looks very involved — there’s climbing, subtle vine physical interactions, and the series’ staple bow and arrow gameplay. There’s also a bunch of parkour, too. For the first time in the series, you won’t be playing as Aloy. According to the PlayStation blog, “In Call of the Mountain, you’ll be seeing it through the eyes of Ryas, a former Shadow Carja Warrior who hopes to redeem himself by investigating a grave new threat to the Sundom. He is a master at climbing and archery, two skills crucial to survival as you step into his shoes, scaling perilous mountains and taking down mighty machines like the Thunderjaw.” Ryas is recently free from prison, on a mission to redeem himself in an attempt to find out why the once peaceful machines are attacking.

Horizon Call of the Mountain is a standalone adventure set in the world of Horizon Forbidden West coming to PSVR2. While the revitalized headset doesn’t have a set release date,  it looks to be ramping up on the horizon. It’s unclear when Horizon Call of the Mountain will release, but there’s a good chance it will be available soon after the launch of PSVR2.

This news comes with an update for Horizon Forbidden West, specifically a New Game+ mode that is available to download on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 today. The New Game+ mode features a performance mode for enhanced visual fidelity, transmog, and the ability to reset Aloy’s skills. You will also be able to replay Horizon Forbidden West from the start with all of your endgame abilities, gear, and knowledge.
