Street Fighter 6 Promo Image Hints at Cammy, Guile, Blanka, and More

Cammy, Guile, E. Honda, Blanka, and Dhalsim’s names appear in a promo image.

We’ve only just gotten a deeper look at Street Fighter 6, but there’s more hiding in the fringes. Tonight during the State of Play event, PlayStation and Capcom gave us a full trailer for the upcoming fighter. The trailer showed off part of the new cast, including series mainstays Ryu and Chun-Li, alongside new fighters Luke and Jamie.

There are hints of further characters, however. At the beginning of the trailer on a billboard in Metro City, there looks to be a design that’s too complex to not be a new fighter. There’s also one unnamed fighter taking on Chun-Li in the middle of the trailer, and another character named Kimberly shows up as a new challenger towards the end.

Street Fighter 6 New Characters

Other hints are available for the eagle-eyed though. These hints all point towards returning characters from classic Street Fighter rosters. In one of the released promo images for the Battle Hub, which looks to be SF6’s online matchmaking space, one screen shows two familiar fighters. You won’t see it easily, however. You need to blow up the max-sized 8000×4502 image from the PlayStation Blog Flickr account to really see the details.

A smaller version of the image.

First, in one of the arcade cabinets on the right, you can see the outline of two returning fighters. One is definitely Cammy, and the other looks a lot like Guile. Ryu and Chun-Li have new designs, but Cammy’s vague shape looks rather similar to her classic costume, rather than one of the DLC costumes from Street Fighter 5.

The others appear in name only. If you look to the left and right of the image, you’ll find two screens that say “Event Counter” on them. In the right one, you can see the names Ryu, Luke, Jamie, Cammy, Guile, and Kimberly while some of the others are a bit fuzzier. The left screen shows the edge names a bit clearer, including Zangief, Dhalsim, E. Honda, and what appears to be Blanka. The roster of potential World Warriors continues to grow!

Finally, there are some names that are either unclear or new characters. One name on the right screen looks to be “Ju Ri”, which might be Juri from Super Street Fighter IV, but her name isn’t usually written that way. The last two names, appearing on the left screen, look to be “Lily” and “Ma Non”. No clue if those are the correct names or who these characters might be.

We’ll likely find out more over the course of the Summer, as Capcom Pro Tour 2022 continues and EVO 2022 hits in August. Street Fighter 6 is coming to PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series sometime in 2023.
